I just updated to version 3.00.339, and I noticed that the “Private” checkbox, for making all bidders private, is no longer available. I submitted a ticket, and I was told that there is nothing they can do, because Ebay has done away with it. Well, the option is still available on Ebay, so it has not been done away with it yet. The only way that I can mark them private is by scheduling them using the Ebay service, and then change them on Ebay, which I would incur a scheduling fee.

If it had been noted in the update note, I would not have updated to the new version. I know that many believe that bidders are protected anyway, but I do not buy that. Recently, someone I know, purchased an item on Ebay, a few days later he received an email from another user, informing him that what he had purchased was fake. It turned out to be true, but, how did the other user got all his information. I have had buyers who have received emails, stating that they can offer the same product cheaper.

As long as Ebay has that option available, I believe that Sixbit should also. I do not see why I should incur the extra fees.

Sounds like someone from eBay support should contact eBay developers. They will tell them that the feature is no longer supported in the API. They will also tell them that since the bidders were anonymized years ago, the setting hasn't really done anything on their backend.

It's gone man, let it go.

Hi Robert,

We've had to upgrade our interface to the eBay Trading API to access the new product identifier requirements. Part of the upgrade removes the Private option.

From their Docs:

PrivateListing Field in ItemType Deprecated

The PrivateListing field has been deprecated and removed from the WSDL with Version 1045. It should no longer be used in Add/Revise/Relist/Verify calls. This field will still get returned in 'Get' calls until it is fully wired off around July 2019.

Can one still set it to private from the Grid, which still shows the checkbox? Also, can I revert to the previous version, and in either case, will it work when posting to Ebay till 2019?

why would an option currently available on eBay be removed from SixBit?
We need the private option too.

'Get' is the operative word. We can see that Private was set on a listing, but can no longer 'Set' it.

I was just on the phone with eBay support today and they encouraged me to use a private listing to sell items directly to a customer who did not order something properly in the website instead of rebilling for shipping off of eBay. So it is interesting that it is being disabled....

Another case of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing.

How is it still working on older versions John?

Older versions use the older WSDL. The field was removed from the newer ones, and unfortunately the newer ones have the new fields necessary for the slew of eBay changes rolling out this summer.

I was just on the phone with eBay, and I was told that they would not restrict an option that is still available on their site. They told me that someone from Sixbit should contact them to resolve the problem.

I spoke to customer service. They spoke to someone in another department and that was the answer I got.

Since we often sell high value items (gold jewelry) we didn't want others to see what we sold out of privacy concerns. Perhaps eBay will consider this issue and bring her back. In the meantime, I agree with Manning...let her go.
