    adding:
all of these variations have a quantity listeed
    they have a photo
    they have a price
they have “variation in use” checked
Ebay doesn’t seem to receive the change at all – like, the dropdown for variation selection on the ebay frontend never updates

John, I created a ticket and a team member took over the mouse and managed to get the variations to update on ebay.

Unfortunately I cannot remember specifically what she did. Every time I have to restock a listing with variations it’s a total gamble whether or not those changes ever propogate through to eBay.

I would appreciate *written* documentation of the normal steps to do this.

The scenario: I have an existing listing with variations. I do not want to cancel and make a new listing and lose watchers. In Item list:
I restock one variation by right cllicking and managing inventory. Sometimes I use right cllick: add stock.
I right click and choose “force sending of varations on next revision”
    I save and exit.
I go to listings for the selected item.
I check and make sure the variation change is there (it is)
for good measure I right click and choose “force sending of variations on next revision”
    I click Revise
I wait while the revision processes. No errors are generated
The update to variation set never makes it to eBay. ??!?!!??
I right click the listing and choose “Send Revisions to ebay”
I wait while it processes seemingly successfully
    Ebay doesn’t update

Sometimes for reasons I do not understand, I do some variation of the above and ebay DOES update

Can you please provide the correct way to do this? preferably in written knowledgebase form?

Thanks John! I think that is the best solution in the long run, but in the short run I wanted something people could search up if they had the error.

    I FIGURED IT OUT.

In case anyone else finds this in search:

in the Item window you enter all possible prices that you might want to list this item at, including potential auctions and BIN.

Then, when you Submit, there is a dropdown (formerly invisible to me :p) that you select whether to list as auction or fixed price.

You can’t change this in the Listing window after submission, and you can’t change it from Reschedule. You have to delete that Listing, go back to the Item, and go to Submit if you made a mistake.

Maybe I found it under Edit Listing: Organization: Listing Format: Fixed Price

    but it is grayed out.

I cannot find this field when editing the item (I set up only pricing for the auction type, not BIN type, so not sure why it attempts to list as BIN, I cannot find anywhere in Item Window to change this ?)

I’m having this problem too and I don’t understand what is meant by “to match the listing type” – where would I set the listing type?

I have had no issue posting BIN items but I’m trying to post an auction item with 0.99 in the starting price field, and 0.00 in all other pricing fields. I get error 73 Price is not valid. I don’t know if there is some place I have specified it as a BIN item and not auction and that is causing the error – where do I set that?
