Notifying Drop Shippers

When an order is received for an item that is drop shipped, the drop shipper must be notified.   The drop shipper should be notified with an email or by entering information on their web site.

Notifying Drop Shippers via Email

Drop Shipper Notifications let the drop shipper know what to send, how many to send, and who to send it to.  If the drop shipper accepts email notifications as a means to place an order, then SixBit's built-in Drop Shipper Notification can be used.  Customizing Drop Shipper Notifications explains how to edit the Drop Shipper Notification if changes will be made to the email that is sent.

Drop shipper notifications can be sent out automatically once a payment has been recorded.  In addition, notifications may be sent manually.    Refer to Customizing Drop Shipper Notifications for information on setting up automatic drop shipper notifications.

To manually send drop shipper notifications:

  1. Open the Ship Orders mode.        How?How? From the Mode selector in the lower left, choose Ship Orders.
  2. From the grid, select the orders in the In Process Status, for which an email will be sent.
  3. Click the Drop Shipper Notification button.  In the Email section of the ribbon bar to open the Email Preview window.  An email for drop shipment, in the selected orders, will be generated and displayed. The original template may be modified.
  4. Click Send or Send All to send the email(s).

When sending an email, a flag will be set.  If necessary, the flag can be manually turned on or off.

To toggle the email sent flag:

  1. Open the Ship Orders mode.        How?How? From the Mode selector in the lower left, choose Ship Orders.
  2. From the grid, select the orders for which the flag will be toggled..
  3. Right click and choose Email from the context menu and then choose the action to take.

Notifying Drop Shippers via Their Web Site

Some drop shippers prefer that order information is entered on their website rather than via email.   Although we do not integrate with drop shippers websites , we can offer some suggestions to make it easier to fill in the information on their web site.

The drop shipper really just needs to know the information that is included in the Drop Shipper Notification email, if a web form must be filled out, we recommend that the process for sending a Drop Shipper Notification email is started and rather than sending the email, just copy and paste the information from the email into the drop shippers web form.
